Everywhere in the world has a different real estate story to tell. In the US there are now some

good signs of recovery. In the UK we have – at least on paper - dipped back into recession again,

In the Euro zone there is turmoil. I could go on. So just what is going on? Where will the real

estate market go now? When will it ever get back to normal?

Well, wherever you are the mortgage lenders are still being difficult. Buyers are being especially

choosy and some sellers still think it is 2006 with prices to match.

These are everyday issues that seem to affect all those involved in buying and selling real estate.

Plus there are other local difficulties and confused and conflicting reports made by industry

‘insiders’ in the print and online press.

What on earth should a sensible buyer or seller think – or do? The answer is to try and forget all

of the above and get on with it.

If you wait for things to get back to normal you will wait forever because there is no normal in

real estate. We are where we are now. Tomorrow we hope will be better. But who really

knows? So make the most of it now and move on. Don’t look back, except with some fond

memories.

There may be ups and there will certainly be downs along the way. But the best advice from the

people who understand the real estate market most of all – real estate agents - is don’t wait for

things to get back to normal. You may get a better price for your home tomorrow but then you

will, no doubt, pay more for another. When you think about it this is normal, or as normal as it

gets.

When we at Dale Sorensen Real Estate (DSRE)  announced our intent to be the title sponsor of this year’s local USTA Tennis Classic, we had no idea the amount of support the community would show this event. Vero Beach is a “tennis community” and many of us at DSRE are players and fans of the game ourselves. But we were pleasantly surprised at how many residents came out to cheer on not only the international stars, but also our own local players.

Two of our local players, Robert Kowalczyk and Kriegler Brink played an extremely exciting match in front of their hometown crowd. And although they were ultimately defeated, the crowd loved watching “two of their own” play. Of course, the last couple days saw an expected amount of excitement as it came down to the final play. On the final day of the Tournament, Australian John-Patrick Smith won the singles and doubles titles. But in our minds, in the end, everyone walked away a winner.

As we watched the players give their all for themselves and the crowd, the crowd showed their appreciation to the players for putting on such a good show. The weather was perfect during the entire 10 days of play and the Boulevard Village and Tennis Club was the perfect location, yet again, for this annual event.

We at DSRE sponsor a lot of non-profit organizations and charity events throughout the year, giving back to this community that we call home. But being the title sponsor of this sporting event showed us again why we love this community so much. The fans are gracious, loyal and supportive; the players show the best in sportsmanship; the organizer of this local event, Mike Rahaley is a true professional; and the staff and residents at the Boulevard are friendly, cordial and courteous, making everyone feel welcome.

Thanks to everyone who came out to watch, thanks to all the players, thank you to the Boulevard Village and Tennis Club for hosting the event, and a special thank you to Mike Rahaley and the US Tennis Association for allowing us to sponsor this wonderful event. We hope to see everyone again next year.

Dale Sorensen Real Estate (DSRE)  has announced their annual donation to the American Cancer Society and along with the check comes some pretty tall fish tales. DSRE raised more than $4,500 during the past year with multiple fundraisers including hosting a booth at the annual Relay for Life of the Beaches. DSRE staff and associates sold their much anticipated and popular fish tacos at the 24-hour long event which was held at Riverside Park in mid-April.

Dale Sorensen, Jr., Managing Partner of DSRE, was pleased with the donation, and thought it was a great way to support such a worthy cause. “We’ve been a leader in the Vero Beach Real Estate market for three decades and feel it’s important to give back to this community that has been so good to us”, Sorensen, Jr. said. “Our staff and associates are some of the most generous and giving people in Indian River County and we’re blessed to be able to share that generosity with the American Cancer Society and other organizations. This event was especially fun because it combined my love of fishing with raising money for a good cause.”

The fish for the tacos were caught during a day on the water that Sorensen, Jr. calls Fishing for a Cause. Several friends, including Beau Bryan,Robert Kowalczyk, Bill Baysura and Alex Smoot joined Sorensen for a day on the water reeling in a total of 24 dolphin (mahi).  The largest fish caught that day weighed in at 54 pounds. This is the 5th year in a row that DSRE has participated in the Relay for Life event.
